The terms “you” and “your” refer to the person or entity accessing our website. If you are accessing the website on behalf of a corporation or other entity, you hereby represent, warrant and confirm that you have the authority to bind such entity to this Privacy Policy. You hereby agree that this Privacy Policy is the equivalent of a written paper agreement between you and us.

Publicly available information, such as information in a public directory, is not Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.
Consent for the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information
Privacy laws require us to obtain the consent of an individual to the collection, use or disclosure of Personal Information in many circumstances. Providing us with your Personal Information is always your choice. By accessing our website or submitting your Personal Information through the website or otherwise, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of such information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Consent Exceptions

The website visitor tracking system does not record Personal Information about individuals or link this information to any Personal data collected.
In accordance with our Personal Information collection practices for our website, your visit to our website may be virtually anonymous, unless you volunteer your Personal Information in connection with your visit.
Search Queries: We collect the text of queries entered into our Beta search tool to improve result accuracy and monitor system performance. Because these queries are processed anonymously and are not linked to an identifiable individual, they do not constitute Personal Information under this policy.

Our collection of Personal Information is limited to that which is reasonable under the circumstances, and we only collect your Personal Information with your consent. For example, we may collect the following Personal Information about you: name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, educational facility, and payment information.
What we do with your information
We use information and Personal Information for the purposes stated below or implied purposes otherwise indicated at the time of collection, including for the following purposes:
- To confirm your identity;
- To respond to your inquiries;
- To meet the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to us;
- To process transactions, including as it relates to the provision of products or services;
- To perform statistical analyses measuring relative interest in the various areas of our website;

AI-Powered Search (Beta)
Ivey Publishing has introduced an AI-powered search assistant (the 'Ivey Case Concierge') in Beta to help users discover public cases and resources using natural language.
- Anonymous Interaction: This tool is available to all visitors and does not require a login. All search queries are processed anonymously. We do not collect or share your name, email, IP address, or location with our AI service providers.
- Public Content Only: During this Beta phase, the AI only has access to publicly available content on our website. It cannot access user accounts, purchase history, or restricted educator-only materials.
Automated Processing Disclosure
- Automated Ranking: Our AI search tool uses automated processing to rank and present relevant search results. This system does not make significant decisions affecting your account status, pricing, or legal rights. It is a discovery tool designed to assist with navigation and content retrieval.
Children’s Privacy
Ivey Publishing’s website and AI search tool are directed to an adult academic audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU) through our AI search tool.
Transfers and disclosures of Personal Information
We do not otherwise sell, or trade or otherwise transfer Personal identifiable information to third parties. We do not and will not share the Personal Information collected via on this website, in any form, with advertisers. Personal Information is only shared in the limited circumstances described herein this Privacy Policy or as otherwise indicated at the time of collection of such Personal Information.
We may share your Personal Information as follows:
1. Legal requirement: We may access and disclose your Personal Information to respond to subpoenas, judicial processes, or investigations, or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law. We may disclose your Personal Information to protect the security of our site, servers, network systems, and databases.
2. Sale or Transfer of business or assets: If another entity acquires us or any of our assets, Personal Information we have collected about you may be transferred to such entity. In addition, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought by or against us, such Personal Information may be considered an asset of ours and may be sold or transferred to third parties.
3. School: If you access our content through an academic curriculum in your school or university, we may share your Personal Information with your educational facility, for example your name and materials you have purchased from us, including coursepacks.
4. Third party Service providers: Your Personal Information may be stored, processed or otherwise used by us, our affiliates or our service providers, both inside and outside of Canada. For example, these trusted third parties may assist us in operating our website, facilitating payments, conducting our business, or otherwise providing services to you. Whenever we hire other organizations to provide support services, they will be required to conform to our privacy standards and to allow us to audit them for compliance.
5. AI Service Providers: We use ChatBar AI to provide our conversational search features. Anonymous query text is processed through secure infrastructure that maintains industry-standard certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II). Our AI partners (such as Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude) are contractually prohibited from using your query data to train their global models.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect the security and confidentiality of your Personal Information, including organizational, technological and physical safeguards to protect the Personal Information within our custody or control.
We store Personal Information in electronic and physical files and servers, and our security measures include on- and off-site storage protections, restricted access to records and data processing equipment, password protocols, and encryption and security software. We conduct audits and monitor compliance with our privacy practices.
We only retain Personal Information for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. When we no longer are required to retain the Personal Information, we will destroy, erase, or de-identify the Personal Information. Legal requirements, however, may require us to retain some or all of the Personal Information we hold for a period of time that is longer than that for which we might otherwise hold information.
The safety and security of your Personal Information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our website or services, you are responsible for keeping that password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, there are inherent risks to any technology, however remote, that could cause security protocols to fail or to be breached and which could result in the unauthorized collection, use or disclosure of your Personal Information.

We may occasionally link to websites of third parties, and such websites are outside of our control. We are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of websites to which our website may link. Refund Policy
Unfortunately, due to the immediate access to digital products, all sales are final and non-refundable. Please review your items before proceeding to checkout.
Access, correction and accountability
While we collect the Personal Information that you supply, we do so with the understanding that any such information is accurate. It is important to us that your Personal Information held by us is accurate and complete. Having accurate information about you enables us to provide you with the website in a manner whereby it functions as intended in relation thereto. You or a person authorized on your behalf has the right to request to see and obtain a copy of your Personal Information and to request changes or corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information. At any time, you may edit your Personal Information through your profile page.
Any request to access or obtain Personal Information which you submit to us must be made in writing to our Privacy Officer at: cases@ivey.ca. We may charge a reasonable fee for providing information in response to an access request, and, upon request, we will provide an estimate of any such fee upon receiving a request to access information. We may require a deposit for all or part of the fee. Where applicable or permitted, we will make the information available within 30 days or provide written notice when we require additional time to respond to a request for access to information.
In some situations, we may not be able to provide access to certain Personal Information as the right to access Personal Information is not absolute. If we do not provide you with the requested information, we will notify you in writing and explain our reason(s) for not fulfilling your request.
Withdrawal of Consent
You may, at any time, withdraw your consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information, subject to reasonable notice and any legal or contractual restrictions. Should you choose to withdraw your consent, we may be unable to provide, or continue to provide, the website or any products or services that can only be provided if we receive appropriate and required Personal Information.
Governing Law
All matters relating to your access or use of the website shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to principles of conflicts of law. You agree and hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario located in London, Ontario with respect to all matters relating to your access and use of the website, as well as any dispute that may arise therefrom.
