The Sustainability Case Writing Awards, led by Ivey Publishing in collaboration with PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education), is committed to educating future business leaders on critical issues around sustainability, empowering them to create and lead change.
Our objectives include:
- Encouraging the development of innovative and impactful learning materials.
- Fostering transformative change in classroom teachings.
- Supporting faculty committed to advancing business education.
- Sharing case studies of global businesses aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), equipping future leaders with the knowledge and skills to champion corporate sustainability.
Recognizing Excellence in Sustainability Case Writing
Five cases will be recognized in total:
• Three winners
• Two honourable mentions
All recognized authors or teams will receive:
• A formal award certificate recognizing excellence in sustainability case writing
• A digital award badge for use on LinkedIn, personal websites, and institutional profiles
• Publication of their case by Ivey Publishing as part of the free case collection
In addition, the three winning authors or teams will receive:
• An invitation to attend and present their case at the 2026 PRME Global Forum (28 - 29 June, 2026, Cairo, Egypt)
• The opportunity to present their winning case in a dedicated session jointly hosted by Ivey Publishing and PRME
• A travel support package* that includes:
• A stipend to support travel-related expenses
• Complimentary registration for the 2026 PRME Global Forum

How to Enter
Eligibility:
- Open to educators and practitioners.
- Joint submissions are encouraged.
- At least one faculty member or PhD candidate at a business school actively teaching is required.
Submission Criteria
1. A case study
- Cases must be field based.
- Case studies must not exceed 7 pages of body text, and no more than 15 pages in total, including supplemental documentation and other appendices.
- Non-traditional case studies are welcome, including video cases, simulations, or other innovative pedagogical materials that support active and social engagement in learning.
- Financial exhibits should include useable and editable .xls or .xlsx files.
2. A teaching note that includes the following:
- Pedagogical context and design: Provide course placement, student profile, learning objectives, core discussion questions, and teaching guidance sufficient for instructors to facilitate the case confidently.
- Strong submissions will demonstrate PRME pedagogy in action, showing how the session fosters responsible leadership, sustainability awareness, and decision-making that considers social, environmental, and economic outcomes.
- Effective notes will highlight how the case enables meaningful, engaged participation — discussion-led learning, collaboration, reflection, and opportunities for students to revise and deepen their thinking.
- The sustainability issue pertinent to the case study
- The learning outcomes
- PRME pedagogy: an explanation of how the case and teaching note align with the pedagogical practices valued within the PRME community.
3. Submission Form
- Author and organization details
- All required documentation for a field base case, including release form from subject organization
- Acknowledgement from the author’s Dean in support of the case study and submission
- Acknowledgement of whether the organization is a PRME signatory. (Non-member schools will be strongly encouraged to join PRME, but membership is not a condition of the award.)
4. Other criteria:
- Copyright: Work must not be published elsewhere.
- Language: Written in English.

- Is non-transferable and may not be assigned to another individual.
- May not be used for purposes unrelated to the Forum.
